During a Formula Renault V6 race at Belgium’s Spa Francorchamps circuit, Matt’s car developed a leak from a fuel tank connection. After racing for several laps he prepared to undertake his compulsory pit stop but as he activated the radio button the cockpit erupted in flames. He then managed to slow the car down, move to one side of the circuit and extract himself from the flames - miraculously without burns or injury. Despite the cockpit being awash with burning fuel he was totally protected by the flamecrusher apparel and walked a way to race another day !!!
