At 42 BELOW we produce and market premium spirits and sell them to the world.
If you were going to choose the perfect environment to make a supreme vodka and gin, you’d have to trace the 42nd parallel across to New Zealand where the water is clear and sweet and the air sets a world standard for purity. Here at 42 degrees below the equator 42 BELOW produce world-class vodka and SOUTH gin.
The process begins when water is drawn from a spring 1000 feet beneath an extinct New Zealand volcano, and is introduced to extracts from GE free wheat to create a neutral grain spirit.
This neutral grain spirit is distilled three times, then washed in spring water and distilled a fourth time to create totally Pure Spirit – 42 BELOW. Currently we have a Pure vodka as well as three hinted offspring, which are unique flavours to the world. 42 BELOW Passionfruit, 42 BELOW Feijoa and 42 BELOW Manuka Honey.
The unique distilling process produces very smooth vodka, which was judged 90 – 95/100 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine in April 2003 and voted first equal by UK newspaper The Independent in November 2003.
To create SOUTH Gin, the neutral grain spirit is distilled twice, then washed in spring water and distilled a third time. The botanicals of Juniper berries, Lemon, Orange, Coriander seeds, Angelica leaves, Orris and Gentian root are blended in and softly shaded with local Manuka berries and Kawakawa leaves for a fragrance ‘similar to walking through the bush after it’s rained’. It’s a unique taste that reflects the natural bounty of our surroundings.
A recent addition to the company’s range is a volcanic springwater called 420. The source of the springwater is secret but it is from a totally New Zealand location and available in a distinctive oval shaped bottle.
42 BELOW have over 4500 accounts around the globe and exports to the UK, USA, Australia, Singapore, Mexico and Canada. It can be found in world-class bars such as The Beverly Hills Hotel in LA, Studio 54 in Las Vegas, Nine and a ½ in New York, The Ritz in London and Icebergs in Sydney.
